As of now, West Virginia RNs are required to complete a total of 12 contact hours of continuing education every two years as a condition for renewing their licenses. Among these 12 contact hours, a few specific requirements have emerged, which reflect the evolving nature of healthcare practice and the necessity for RNs to stay updated on critical issues in patient care.

Newly licensed RN license renewal requirements are certificates of completion for 3 contact hours of best prescribing and drug diversion CE. All other RNs need certificates of completion for 12 contact hours of CE from a Board approved CE provider.
