Nursing License CE Requirements
CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every two years, the Montana Nursing Board requires nurses to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- 24 contact hours for RN license renewal
- 24 contact hours for LPN license renewal
- 40 contact hours for APRN license renewal
License Expiration and Renewal
Registered Nurse Licenses:
The Montana RN licensing period begins on January 1 of one year and completes December 31 of the next year. Half of Montana nurse licenses expire in even-numbered years, and half expire in odd-numbered years.
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
The Montana LPN licensing period begins on January 1 of one year and completes December 31 of the next year. Half of Montana nurse licenses expire in even-numbered years, and half expire in odd-numbered years.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licenses:
The Montana APRN licensing period begins on January 1 of one year and completes December 31 of the next year. Half of Montana nurse licenses expire in even-numbered years, and half expire in odd-numbered years.
