What are the state license renewal requirements for a nurse in Connecticut?
Registered nurses (RN) and licensed practical nurses (LPN) actively practicing in Connecticut and applying for license renewal after January 1, 2022, and once every six years thereafter, are required to complete two contact hours of training or education on screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention training.

CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every six years, the Connecticut Nursing Board requires RNs and LPNs to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- 2 contact hours of training or education on screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention training for RN license renewal
- 2 contact hours of training or education on screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention training for LPN license renewal
License Expiration and Renewal
Registered Nurse Licenses:
Registered nurse licenses in Connecticut expire in the first birth month following issuance and are renewable annually thereafter. RNs will receive notification approximately 60 days prior to their license expiration date and will be required to renew online.
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
Licensed Practical nurse licenses in Connecticut expire in the first birth month following issuance and are renewable annually thereafter. LPNs will receive notification approximately 60 days prior to their license expiration date and will be required to renew online.
