Nursing License CE Requirements
CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every two years, the South Carolina Nursing Board requires nurses to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- 30 contact hours for RN license renewal
- 30 contact hours for LPN license renewal
- 30 contact hours for APRN license renewal
APRNs WITH Prescriptive Authority are required to maintain their national certification AND complete 20 hours of pharmacotherapeutics with two of those hours in controlled substances.

South Carolina RN licenses expire on April 30 in even-numbered years.
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
South Carolina LPN licenses expire on April 30 in even-numbered years.
