Nursing License CE Requirements
CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every two years, the Tennessee Nursing Board requires nurses to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- 5 contact hours for practicing Tennessee RN license renewal
- 10 contact hours for nonpracticing Tennessee RN license renewal
- 5 contact hours for practicing Tennessee LPN license renewal
- 10 contact hours for nonpracticing Tennessee LPN license renewal
- No contact hours for APRN license renewal
License Expiration and Renewal
Registered Nurse Licenses:
Tennessee RN licenses renew every two years. Renewal notices are mailed from the administrative office forty-five days prior to expiration of the license to the current address on file. Licensees are responsible for renewing on time and keeping the board apprised of current information.
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
Tennessee LPN licenses renew every two years. Renewal notices are mailed from the administrative office forty-five days prior to expiration of the license to the current address on file. Licensees are responsible for renewing on time and keeping the board apprised of current information.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licenses:
Tennessee APRN licenses renew every two years. Renewal notices are mailed from the administrative office forty-five days prior to expiration of the license to the current address on file. Licensees are responsible for renewing on time and keeping the board apprised of current information.
