Nursing License CE Requirements
CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every two years, the Rhode Island Nursing Board requires nurses to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- 10 contact hours for RN license renewal
- 10 contact hours for LPN license renewal
- 10 contact hours for APRN license renewal

License Expiration and Renewal
Registered Nurse Licenses:
Rhode Island RN licenses expire March 1 every two years following the issuance of the original license (if a license is issued in an odd-numbered year the license renewal is due in an odd-numbered year, if issued in an even-numbered year the license renewal is due in an even-numbered year).
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
Rhode Island LPN licenses expire March 1 every two years following the issuance of the original license (if a license is issued in an odd-numbered year the license renewal is due in an odd-numbered year, if issued in an even-numbered year the license renewal is due in an even-numbered year).
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licenses:
Rhode Island APRN licenses expire March 1 every two years following the issuance of the original license (if a license is issued in an odd-numbered year the license renewal is due in an odd-numbered year, if issued in an even-numbered year the license renewal is due in an even-numbered year).
