Nursing License CE Requirements
CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every two years, the Utah Nursing Board requires nurses to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- For Utah RN license renewal:
- During the past 2 years, if you have completed at least 400 hours of licensed practice, you must complete 15 contact hours
- During the past 2 years, if you have completed at least 200 hours of licensed practice, you must complete 30 contact hours
- For Utah LPN license renewal:
- During the past 2 years, if you have completed at least 400 hours of licensed practice, you must complete 15 contact hours
- During the past 2 years, if you have completed at least 200 hours of licensed practice, you must complete 30 contact hours
- For Utah APRN license renewal:
- During the past 2 years, if you have completed at least 400 hours of licensed practice, you must complete 30 contact hours
License Expiration and Renewal
Registered Nurse Licenses:
Utah RN licenses expire every two years on January 31 in odd-numbered years.
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
Utah LPN licenses expire every two years on January 31 in even-numbered years.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licenses:
Utah APRN licenses expire every two years on January 31 in even-numbered years.
Note: At least 60 days prior to the expiration date of a license, DOPL mails a renewal notice to the licensee's address of record.
