New York State Education Department (NYSED) Mandate: The NYSED now mandates all nurses and other licensed healthcare practitioners who have previously completed the one-time NYS Mandated "Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment" course to COMPLETE A NEWLY UPDATED TRAINING PROGRAM by April, 1, 2025. As of January 2024, NY Social Services Law Paragraph 413 was amended to require  additional coursework that includes protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision-making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while interacting virtually.
