Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training for New York State: Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment
New York State Education Department (NYSED) Mandate: In 2025, Section 413 of the New York Social Services Law was amended to require the addition of guidance on identifying an abused or maltreated child when such child is an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability. This course has been updated to include the additional content. New York law requires every person who is required to take the mandated training related to child abuse, including those who have previously undergone this training, to complete this updated training by November 17, 2026. |

Child Abuse
NYS mandates many professions and license holders including LPN, RN, physicians, dentists, teachers, coaches, etc., to take a one-time child abuse training.
Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training for New York State
We report course completions to NYSED daily via an automated reporting system for the following professions:
Creative Arts Therapy, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Psychoanalysis, Registered Nurse, Dentist, Dental Hygiene, Optometry, Medicine, Podiatry, Psychology, Chiropractic, LMSW, LCSW, Restricted Dental Faculty, and Teachers.
All other professions/license holders, including coaches, need to self-report.
Infection Control
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) requires healthcare providers to take an Infection Control course every four years.
We report course completions to NYSED daily via an automated reporting system for the following professions:
LPN, RN, Physician Assistant, Specialist Assistant, Dentist, Dental Hygiene, Optometry, Medicine, Podiatry, Restricted Dental Faculty.
